Green chemicals without a green premium
Our breakthrough chemical processes allow us to produce sustainable, carbon-negative chemicals that perform better and cost less than dirty petrochemicals.
Sustainable specialty chemicals for high-performance applications
Citrimer is bringing sustainability to specialty chemicals for applications that are notoriously difficult to decarbonize - at cost parity with petrochemicals. We believe that doing the right thing for our planet shouldn’t come with a hefty price tag.
Today, we’re focused on thermoset resins, a class of high-performance materials used to manufacture fiber-reinforced composites - for applications in automotive, marine, sporting goods, building materials, and other industrials.
Out with the old and in with the new
Historically, all chemicals have come from petroleum - an oily, diverse mixture of small hydrocarbons. Through refining, separation, and processing, hydrocarbons are sorted and assembled into complex molecules. These processes are energy-intense, thermodynamically unfavorable, and bad for the environment.
However, nature is already an excellent chemist and readily produces highly complex biopolymers, like cellulose. As we transition from a petrochemical economy to a new bioeconomy, we’re taking inspiration from the molecular complexity intrinsic to nature. Instead of energy-intense legacy processes that require complexity to be built up, we break down nature’s existing complexity into useful molecules that can do the same jobs as dirty petrochemicals - with way less energy and entirely renewable feedstocks.
